August Runners
We have been enjoying a very busy spell on the yard, lots of horses in work to keep us working hard. The runners have been a little frustrating, all running well and plenty of placings but not quite getting the nose in front.I was particularly pleased with Spartakos who ran in his first nursery at Hamilton on Thursday for Lamont Racing, he finished 3rd only beaten 1 1/2 lengths showing a very tough attitude. Hopefully a win to come from him soon! Other highlights this last couple of weeks have been a gutsy second from Rockley Point at Musselburgh and a super round of jumping from Chain Of Beacons to finish third at Southwell. We have a lovely unraced 2yo 'Elladora' by Equiano, she has struggled a little with her nerves in the stalls. We took her along to Hamilton for a day out where she was very well behaved, she had a pre-race stalls assessment and I hope the experience will stand her in good stead when she makes her race debut. The race programme in the north has been particularly poor this month, especially after losing races at both Ayr and Hamilton to waterlogging. Thrilled that September is looking better for us, and the return of Newcastle is a great asset to the northern programme. Rockley Point holds entries at Ripon (Sunday) and Catterick (Monday), following that our next planned runners are Ayr on 24th.
