Rain????

After a wet spring we have turned the corner in to some glorious sunny weather, even up here in Scotland. It is lovely to work in and the horses are enjoying the sunshine on their backs but we will soon be crying out for rain to keep the ground sensible and the grass growing.

We have had a nice couple of winners at Hamilton over the past few weeks. Slainte Mhath scored in fine style over 6f under Phil. We were probably lucky to get her back out again before the ground dried out, she won’t be seen again on turf until we get some rain. She has now attained a handicap mark of 70 which is amazing, it has been some journey with her from the horse we started out with. 4 wins later she is a far more confident and hopefully there is still a bit of improvement to come!

Elladora also won at Hamilton over 6f with Phil in the saddle, but she done it on quicker ground. She won well but the handicapper did not miss her and she will be off a mark of 64 next time she turns out. She is fair enjoying life at the moment which is great to see. The winning yard get a box of Tunnocks tea cakes from Hamilton Racecourse so we have had plenty of those in the tack room to keep us going!

Among out other runners I was particularly pleased with Thaki who finished third at Carlisle. His four runs for us have yielded a sixth and 3 thirds and he is looking like a good solid fun horse for his owners. He is in to run at Hamilton on Wednesday.

It has been a quiet few days runners wise. We have been busy at home working away with quite a few unraced horses which is very exciting, stalls work and we have had some of them away from home doing a bit of work. Big thanks to Jackie Stephen and Ewan Whillans both of which allow us to use their fantastic gallops for away days.

Our next runners are at Hamilton on Wednesday.
