November….

As we head quickly towards the end of the year the horses continue to run well, but we have not had a winner for a few weeks now which is frustrating. We have had plenty of seconds and thirds on the boards and all have ran with credit but we want winners!!

A highlight last week was Thaki finishing a closing second at Newcastle under Morgan Cole for URSA Major Racing. Thaki has a special place both for us and his owners as he is such a consistent performer, especially when he was such a bargain buy for the yard. We had hoped to run him again on Sunday but he was balloted out so he now heads to Wolverhampton on Thursday.

As well as Thaki heading to Wolverhampton on Thursday we also have Rockley Point in at the same track on Wednesday. Ideally he will line up over his preferred 5 furlongs but he also holds an entry over 6 as there is a high chance he will be balloted out of the 5. He has had plenty of work over the past 10 weeks but at 10 years old with 6 months off the track it is likely he will come on for the run. He is moving well and showing plenty zest for life so I hoping he can perform well again through the winter.

We have been busy getting our yearlings on the go and they have been fabulous to work with so far. I love seeing their progression, it must be one of the best parts of the job. They all arrived at different times so are working away at different stages. It is a huge credit to everyone on the yard as they take a lot of time and patience but hopefully come the spring/summer all the hard work will have been worth it! We will get them going quietly through the stalls and cantering away then they will have a small break over Christmas to let them relax before a busy spring.

Tomorrow at Newcastle we have Plink lining up for Star Racing in the hands of Jason Hart. He showed a nice bit of promise on his debut run for the yard and hopefully we can see him build on that tomorrow!

We do not have many planned runners over the next fortnight, with only a couple of entries next week and the week beginning Monday 27th being a welcome week off of flat racing. This allows us to schedule in a lot of routine jobs with the horses like flu jags and worming which can be difficult to navigate around busy racing schedules.
