A Landmark Winner

Last year we set out with the aim of having 12 winners and a Saturday winner on ITV, we surpassed this and it was so satisfying to achieve our goals. This year top of the list was to train a 2yo WFA winner and I am very proud that we achieved this when Curious Rover scored at Catterick under Sam James. We have only had a handful of 2yo’s in to train and previously we have had nothing good enough to be very competitive.

Rover was pin hooked and pre trained by Shane Hourigan in Ireland and he arrived with us in super nick and ready to crack on and prepare for the race track. Very lucky that we had the opportunity to train him and that he has been sold to stay in the yard to the fabulous URSA Major Racing. He gave his sire The Irish Rover his first ever winner which made it even more special.

Our other URSA Major 2yo Jungle Jean ran with great credit at Carlisle, she has had 2 runs to date finishing 6th and 4th showing nice improvement in between her runs. She is far from the finished article and will be very exciting next year as a 3yo. She will head to either Carlisle or Newcastle for her third run.

Curious Rover has run again since his win, he finished a good second to a smart 2yo at Hamilton carrying a penalty. The track probably did not play totally to his strengths and I would think this second would actually be an upgrade in form from his Catterick win.

On the same night Sacred Falls made a positive start to her handicapping career with a close second and Elladora ran a nice race for third of a mark still 4lb higher than her previous highest winning mark.

Noble Captain ran a great third at Southwell last week and he takes his chance again at Newcastle tomorrow night in the hands of Jason Hart. We also send Annie Maher with William Pyle in the saddle.

Great to have the horses in such great form and hopefully some more winners on the horizon!
