SECOND
Our last month of runners has been a little frustrating yielding 4 seconds and a third from 10 runners. Great to know the horses are well and knocking on the door but very frustrating not quite getting the wins on the board. It’s tough when the handicapper nibbles away at these placed horses making it even harder to get the job done next time they are out.Our last runner before the festive period was Rockley Point who is in fine form and picked up second at Newcastle on Monday and he will be our next as he holds an entry back at the track this Monday coming. Our other ‘seconds’ Flaming Glory and Getaway Gerry are both in good heart and will be back on the racetrack in the coming weeks. Getaway Gerry will head back to Kelso mid January, while Flaming Glory has been a little hard to place and may have to travel further for a 3 mile chase at a galloping track.Another I am excited to see back out on the track is Spartakos who is looking good in work and will be ready to run mid January. Lack of options at Newcastle may mean that we have to travel a little further afield to start his season off. He is owned by Making Headway Racing who have shares available for anyone that would be interested in ownership in a promising young flat horse. It was a massive relief the other week to see Elladora (pictured) pass her stalls test at Newcastle with flying colours. Craig Lidster done a spot of work with her and he loaded her on the day and Phil Dennis kindly rode her, big team effort from them and everyone at the yard. I was hoping there would have been an auction race to run her in at Newcastle in January but unfortunately that is not the case so she will have to have a spin out in an open novice which is annoying but at least she will be back out on the track. As well as Newcastle on Monday we also plan to have runners at Kelso next Tuesday!
