More Seconds

Rockley Point almost gave us a perfect end to 2020 at Newcastle when he was just collared on the line on Hogmanay, to add insult to injury the handicapper has raised him 3 lbs this morning for his efforts in defeat. We followed that with another second yesterday down at Wolverhampton. This one was very pleasing though as it was step forward in form for Nellie French (pictured). Affectionately known as ‘Mary’ at home she has been difficult to get right following a virus in the summer, however it looks like we have now got things in line for her. Unfortunately there are no planned low grade 5f races in the north before April so she will have to travel a little further afield to get some races in.The past week has involved a lot of salt spreading as the weather has really closed in here in the Borders, don’t think we have been above zero degrees much in the last week. Lots of hard work and determination has kept the show on the road and the horses haven’t missed a days work. We also topped up our AW surface on Sunday which was a big job and we had an amazing team in to get it done in one day. Keeping the surface well maintained is an important job and ensures we can keep going whatever the weather. We were excited to bring a couple of flat horses back in to work this week in the shape of Gweedore and an unraced Zoffany both owned by Lamont Racing. Exciting looking forwards to the summer. Our next entry will be Elladora at Newcastle next Tuesday!
