Mondays
Well we were all geared up to have our first runner in what feels like a lifetime tomorrow and she was balloted out by 1. So disappointing with the ground and race conditions looking ideal. There is very little northern racing over the next four weeks and it is looking extremely hard to place several of the horses in the yard. A couple are entered for hurdles over the weekend to get them out for a run even though they are out and out chasers, unfortunately the races just aren't there for them.I have been absolutely thrilled with how the horses are enjoying our new sand circle. They are happy and relaxed while working away on it and are still enjoying heading to the hill 2/3 times per week for stiffer pieces of work. Our new schooling lane is also proving a great asset and the youngsters are all jumping well through it.This morning was an interesting Monday morning with gale force winds sweeping through the Borders making the horses extra fresh. Most managed to keep a lid on it with only Nelson managing to elude us, although we are well used to that as he is always a tricky character to handle. He was swiftly reverted to a lunging session instead for safety purposes! 8 years old now I doubt he will ever grow up.
