All Systems Go

The season has kicked off in earnest for us with most of the stables now occupied with the NH horses having enjoyed a nice summer break.  The stables are all pressure washed, disinfected and painted and the yard is looking fantastic ahead of our busy spell. We hope to have Rockley Point at Ayr on Monday and Rory’s Valentine at Perth on Wednesday next week. They are pictured above after a gallop this morning. Its has been a difficult week for the family as we buried my Gran Mary Johnstone yesterday.  She was a wonderful hardworking lady who had 88 happy years and will be a massive miss to all the family. Mary and her husband Ian were hard working farmers based in Lanarkshire and their biggest legacy is their involvement in bringing Texel Sheep in to the UK. Grandpa was a founding member and the founding Chairman of the Texel Sheep Society with Gran working hard at his side throughout.  We were fortunate that they spent a portion of their retirement based in Galashiels and we got to spend precious time with them. The fact that my mum grew up on a farm, around animals has undoubtably played a huge part in the person I have become and the lifestyle I have chosen.
