A Windy Day
Today has not been a day for the faint hearted up here in Scotland, with a red warning for storm and gale force winds in for the majority of the day. Our amazing team were in sharp this morning and all the necessary jobs were done in quick time before the worst of the weather hit the central Borders. I am just glad we were not planning to go any travels in the lorry today.
The best of our runners over the past period was the game Noble Captain who started slowly at Newcastle on Tuesday under Billy Loughnane then ran on and finished off strongly for a nice third. He is a horse that plied his trade in class 6 affairs but could be admired for his consistency and the effort he put in to every run. Otis, as he is known here picked up a career ending injury in the race and will now have some rehab and head to life in retirement. He was a two time winner for his owners Making Headway Racing, along with plenty of placings and he gave them lots of great days out on the track. He will be much missed by his owners and us at the yard, particularly Chloe who had an extra soft spot for him.
Good luck in life after racing Otis!
We have two entries at Newcastle tomorrow in the Shape of Concert Boy and Rockley Point. After that it is a quiet week ahead, but we are now very busy getting our turf horses on the go and fit for the upcoming season that is creeping up on us very quickly!
