A Trip to Haydock

Colinton made yesterdays trip to Haydock a memorable won by winning the first race live on ITV. It was a step up for him heading into a a very competitive race off top weight but he won well in typical gutsy fashion under a positive ride from Sam James. His owners/breeders Alison and Scott were cheering him on from Scotland and I know they were elated to see him win again. He looks to remain upwardly mobile and once he has been reassessed by the handicapper on Tuesday we will look to find another race for him.

We also had Gweedore down at Haydock, the ground was on the lively side for him but he still ran well finishing 6th beaten only 3 and a half lengths. He would have finished closer had it not been for interference he suffered close to home that resulted in Andrew have to sit up and stop riding for a few strides.

Far From A Ruby represented us closer to home at Musselburgh. She got caught wide from a poor draw and ran a bit free round the bend, although the finishing result wasn’t as good as I hoped she was not beaten far.

Saturday only improved what was already a great week after watching Slainte Mhath win under Jason Hart at Ayr last Wednesday. I wrote in my last blog a bit about ‘Annie’ and the journey she has been on so to watch her win was just just amazing for all of us at the yard and also her owners who have been along for the roller coaster ride. She definitely enjoys a bit of cut in the ground so conditions at Ayr were ideal.

We took our two of our two years, Artemis Flyer and Killing Eve to Ewan Whillans gallop at Hawick through the week to give them more experience away from home. They were very well behaved, professional and worked well which was great to see. Hopefully all this hard work pays off when they hit the racetrack!!

This week we have Samurai Sneddz entered up at both Hamilton and Carlisle, the race at Carlisle is much more suitable but I was hoping for a bit of soft ground for him. Rockley Point heads to Wolverhampton tomorrow and I am really hope he shows some of the zest he showed there at the start of the year.
