March News

We have tried to make the most of the short spell of soft ground and got a couple of runs into the National Hunt horses.  Western Lass took a step forward to finish 4th at Newcastle and has been allotted a mark of 100 by the handicapper, she will be back out on the track when it rains again.  Stoney Rover has picked up a couple of nice placing's, especially happy with the latter run in a competitive handicap where he shouldered top weight, we would like to think he will improve again for more give in the ground.Although unavoidable it is very frustrating that Ayr lost their first flat meeting that was scheduled for Monday as there was a nice couple of options for our horses, who now look to head to Thirsk on the 13th.  Rockley Point is climbing the walls ready to run but the lack of rain at Musselburgh means he is having to wait a little longer before he hits the track.Work rider Abby has being doing well on her Point-to-pointer Up To Al, she finished a close third in the first race at Friarshaugh (pictured) a week past and will line up in a similar race this Saturday back at the same venue.  Al has been a super servant over the last two seasons and has given Abby some serious spins and bags of confidence. She is a super schooling jockey and work rider and I am sure she has now earned the right to be considered for some outside rides. In other news Jewellery has passed her due date (22nd) and we are impatiently awaiting a phone call from Overbury stud to say we have a foal.  All being well she is expecting a Black Sam Bellamy and will be covered by Schiaparelli for next term.  Maybe a mothers day foal is on the cards??Really pleased to say we have successfully rehomed the lovely All About The Pace this week.  She was only with us for a short time but her joints weren't standing up to fast work so we looked for an alternative career for her.  She has moved a short distance up the road to Nikki, where she will live with her new friend Tonka and be a field companion with some light hacking as well.  Great when we can see them away to such lovely homes.
